Smart Pickit / IDP Editor (Any guides?)

Hello all, I am very new to creating/modifying pickits and I would really appreciate a few pointers. I've searched high and low and cannot find an answer to the following question: 

 

When opening the idp editor under the EB default Smart Pickit, the screen is blank. If I were to simply copy/paste a pre-existing script, such as the one in this thread (https://exiled-bot.net/community/index.php/topic/2569-my-pickit-add-yours-please/) would it take effect? 

 

I tried searching for guides on how to Smart Pickit but I failed miserably and none of the ones I did find really began with "Step 1".
